Horvat recently became acting head coach of the Miners
President of Donetsk Shakhtar Rinat Akhmetov met with the acting head coach Dario Srnoi and general director of the club Sergei Palkin in Kyiv. At the meeting they discussed urgent issues regarding the club’s activities.
“Your heart has always been, is and will be with Shakhtar. Even knowing that we were planning to appoint a new coach, you were not afraid to accept the team before the game with Barcelona and other difficult matches. I am sure that Shakhtar has many victories ahead. I am also confident that Ukraine will win this unjust war. I am proud of what the club does to rehabilitate military personnel and support their families. We will definitely continue these programs,” Akhmetov said at a meeting with Srna.
Let us remind you that Shakhtar’s sporting director Darijo Srna was appointed acting head coach of the team.
Earlier, the Miners announced the dismissal of Patrick van Leeuwen. Together with the Dutch coach, he left the team and his coaching staff.
Shakhtar takes third place in the UPL, having played one match less for Krivbass and Polesie. On October 21, the team will play against LNZ in the Ukrainian Championship. The Pitmen also occupy third place in the Champions League group, and in the next match of the European Cup tournament they will play against Barcelona on October 25.
