Zarya: Any postponement of matches is unacceptable for us

Lugansk club proposes to exchange home matches with Maccabi Tel Aviv

Zarya published a statement on its official website regarding the match of the third round of the group stage of the Conference League against Maccabi Tel Avivwhich is scheduled to take place on October 26th.

“Luganskaya Zarya is sympathetic to the situation that has developed in Israel. Namely, to war and terrorist acts on the territory of the country and to everything that leads to the death of people.

Despite everything, it must be recalled that there has been a war on the territory of our country for almost 10 years. During this time, our people, our fans and our team have gone through a lot. I had to leave my own homes, start life again and fight on.

During this time, despite the difficult times, Zarya has never asked for a postponement of at least European Cup matches and plays football. Even now, when our team travels to many places by bus, across borders for 15-20 hours, and then plays in one country, after which it returns to Ukraine again for the same 20 hours and participates in its own championship.

Zarya offered to exchange home matches with Maccabi or help the opponent organize their home match at the Lublin Arena. Zarya is generally not averse to playing an opponent’s home match in any country where the home team chooses. But Maccabi wants to postpone the match, which is scheduled for October 26, to the month of November.

In November, the black and whites have a very complex calendar. In addition to the European Cup matches, we will have a match in the Ukrainian Cup (in Odessa) and our own championship.

Considering the very difficult logistics, not forgetting that Ukraine is also a country that continues the war and its struggle for independence, not wanting to neglect domestic competitions (Cup and Ukrainian Championship), any postponement of matches is unacceptable for Zorya.

We are ready to play football, observing the regulations and calendar of UEFA competitions and the domestic championship,” Zarya’s statement said.

Let us remind you that Maccabi Tel Aviv asked to postpone the match with Zorya in the third round of the group round of the Conference League. Zorya head coach Valery Kriventsov said that the club proposed to hold an “away” match with the Israelis in Lublin. At the same time, the question of Israeli football players traveling abroad remains open.

Maccabi’s match with Zorya in the third round of the Conference League is scheduled to take place in Tel Aviv on October 26. Already on November 9, a meeting of the fourth round of Kriventsov’s team with the Israelis is planned in Lublin.
