Shakhtar’s young leader contributed to the team’s starting goals in both October matches
Midfielder Ukrainian national team Georgy Sudakov shared his impressions of recent matches against North Macedonia (2:0) and Malta (3:1), and also spoke about the features of the training process Sergei Rebrov and the progress of an ex-teammate Mikhail Mudrik.
“The most important thing is that we won both matches; they were very difficult games. We have stepped forward, now we are preparing for Italy, this match will decide the fate of our ticket to the Euro.”
“Which matches in the selection were memorable? All games were fundamental and important. Perhaps with Italy, because of my mistake… Probably the most emotional match was with North Macedonia away, when we came back from 0:2. There was a bright and turning point.”
“It’s very nice to play for the national team, and when you score, it gives you double emotions. But the main thing is that the team wins.”
“Sergei Rebrov in training focuses on pressing, getting out of defense, we want to constantly play with the ball. But we have little time to prepare for the games, so it’s difficult to work out everything. If we manage to work on something specific, great.”
“Relationship on the field with Mikhail Mudryk? Everyone knows what a quality footballer he is, he is a Chelsea player. It’s great that he started playing in the lineup, reached a new level, and adapted a little. I’m very happy for him that he scored his debut goal for the national team. I hope he will score even more goals in the future.”
Let us remind you that on October 14, in a match against North Macedonia, Georgiy opened the scoring, scoring his debut goal for the national team. He also started in the next match, away against Malta. His cross led to the start of a comeback by our team (Maltese defender Ryan Camenzuli cut the ball into his own goal).
The Ukrainian team scored 13 points in seven matches. The blue-and-yellows are in second place in Group C. England is in the lead, with Italy in third place. Squadra Azzurra has 10 points, but played one match less than Sergei Rebrov’s team.
In their final match, Ukraine will play against Italy on November 20. The blue-yellows will play their home match in Leverkusen.
