Usik: I was sure that the fight would take place, based on what I know about Fury. I’ve been following him for many years

According to Alexander, Tyson is playing “to his side,” and this needs to be used wisely

World heavyweight champion according to WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO Alexander Usik told why he had no doubt that his fight against the WBC title holder Tyson Fury will eventually take place.

“I formed my opinion that the fight would take place based on what I know about Tyson Fury. I have been following him for many years, his actions, what he says and how he behaves. I read a couple of his books and formed my opinion from these components.”

“I don’t know where, but sometimes such thoughts come to me. You know, I’ll pray, sit silently, think about the seashore, the wind, the sky, fly somewhere. These are the applications that come in, which I then put into words.”

“He plays. It’s obvious he’s a team player. Fury is playing to his side, which is cool. We need to play to our advantage, that’s all. Everything that we see on TV, that they show us, is some kind of game, a show.”

Let us remind you that the unification fight between Usik and Fury was planned for April 2023, but it did not take place. According to the “Gypsy King”, this happened due to the financial demands of the Ukrainian.

Alexander again challenged Fury to fight after successfully defending his WBA/WBO/IBO/IBF titles against Daniel Dubois.

As a result, Usik and Fury signed a contract to fight for the absolute title in the heavyweight category – this became known in September. The fight is planned to take place on December 23 or January 2024 in Saudi Arabia. It is planned that the exact date of the event will be announced after the fight between the “Gypsy King” and Ngannou.

The 10-round fight between Fury and Ngannou will take place on October 28 in Saudi Arabia. The WBC title will not be on the line.
