— The Unified Commonwealth Football Championship will take place at the initiative of the Ministry of Sports and with the support of the Russian government. The championship will bring together teams from four regions: the Donetsk People’s Republic, the Kherson region, the Zaporozhye region, the Lugansk People’s Republic, as well as the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. The Ministry of Sports will be responsible for organizing the championship, which will be included in the unified calendar plan.
We have now developed and agreed on the concept and are finalizing the quantitative and qualitative parameters. Financing of the championship will be provided by budgetary and extra-budgetary funds, including through the Our Sport Foundation, which Chernyshenko spoke about today at the plenary session. The direct organizer of the championship will be the ANO “Commonwealth” under the clear leadership of the Ministry of Sports. Previously, 10 teams will participate in the championship. The start of the tournament is scheduled for February 2024, the department’s press service cited Baysultanov as saying.
