Fernandinho does not guarantee contract renewal with Athletico-PR

After the comeback victory against Grêmio, Fernandinho, a 38-year-old midfielder, dodged the questions and did not guarantee that he will renew his contract with Athletico-PR

After the comeback victory against Guild, Fernandinho missed the mark and did not guarantee that he will renew his contract with the Athletico-PR. In an interview given in the mixed zone, the veteran did not give any concrete indication on the subject when questioned. At 38 years old, the midfielder has a contract with Furacão until the end of 2023.

Previously, Fernandinho already stated that he plans to renew his contract with the club from Paraná, but placed the classification for the Libertadores as a condition for the extension to take hold. At the moment, the team occupies fifth place in the Brasileirãowith the same score as Palm trees and Grêmio, who are in fourth and third position, respectively.

According to ‘GE’, another important factor for Fernandinho’s stay at Athletico is the presence of Mario Celso Petraglia, president of the club. The leader was away to take care of his own health, but recently returned to his post. As he has a good relationship with the agent, the veteran wants to negotiate directly with him.

“There is this possibility. After a while it will be inevitable to sit down and talk. Let’s reach an agreement that is better for both parties. Be very calm and very cautious at this moment,” said Fernandinho about the contract renewal. So far, even without guaranteeing that he will continue at Furacão, the midfielder does not mention the subject of retirement very often.

With the aim of returning to the Libertadores, Fernandinho spoke about the result against Grêmio, adding three points away from home. “It was a very important result. We missed getting close to G-4 in previous games. The objective is to qualify directly for the Libertadores”, said the 38-year-old veteran.
