The Red Devils could not put the finishing touches on the worst team in the championship
Manchester United snatched victory over Sheffield United in the 9th round match nuclear submarinescoring the winning goal in the final stretch of the game – 2:1.
The favorite had to suffer a lot against the worst team in the championship. The Blades were really close to getting their second point of the season.
In the first half, the teams exchanged goals. Both are on the account of Scottish footballers. Scott McTominay scored for the visitors from the game, and Oliver McBurnie scored for the hosts from the penalty spot.
In the second half, the guests improved, but for a long time they could not realize their advantage. The Mancunians were helped out by an unobvious hero – defender Diogo Dalot, who distinguished himself with a gorgeous shot from outside the penalty area into the top corner. Thus, the day of mourning for Bobby Charlton was not further darkened for Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag’s team won the third victory in the last four rounds, gained 15 points and rose to 8th place in the standings. Sheffield remains last, the team has only one point.
Manchester United will host Copenhagen in the Champions League next Tuesday. And on Sunday, October 29, the Devils will face a derby against Manchester City. The Blades will be visiting Arsenal in the 10th round.
