The Ukrainian winger of Chelsea talks about scoring against Arsenal, his emotions from the first goal at Stamford Bridge, and his disappointment with the final result
Winger Chelsea Mikhail Mudrik shared his emotions from the match against Arsenaland also admitted what exactly he was performing at the moment when he scored against David Raya with a lobbed shot.
“It was something between a cross and a kick. Before the game, our goalkeeper coach told me to watch their goalkeeper because sometimes he tries to read something and he might just lose the goal, so I can pin him. So I knew that and kept it in my head. I chose something between a cross and a shot, and it was a good decision.”
“It was great to share this moment with our fans, especially against Arsenal. It was a special moment and I really appreciate their support. It means a lot to me to score at Stamford Bridge, especially because I get to share the moment with them. This is something special. I loved this moment and I want there to be more and more moments like this.”
“Such a big disappointment, the whole team is very upset right now. I think we should have won this match, but maybe we lost concentration for 10 seconds, and in football everything can happen quickly. When you lose focus, it can end badly for you. We just lost concentration for 10 seconds, but football is fast, that’s enough.”
“But we still feel good. I think we are going the right way. We’re very disappointed that we only got a draw, but we just have to keep moving forward, work hard and strive for wins.”
“I think we have more confidence now than we had before. We just need to keep going in the right direction and the results will come.”
Let us remind you that on October 21, Chelsea disappointingly missed out on a victory over Arsenal in the home match of the 9th round of the Premier League (2:2). The Blues dominated most of the game, and Mudryk made it 2-0 in the 48th minute with a cross from a tight angle that sent the ball past visiting keeper David Raya. Mikhail also took part in the first goal – it was his header with his hand that was stopped by Gunners defender William Saliba, and Cole Palmer converted the penalty.
In the middle of the second half, Mikhail was replaced, and Chelsea conceded twice in the end. After the match, head coach Mauricio Pochettino praised his ward, but added that Mudryk has not yet reached optimal shape.
The 22-year-old Ukrainian winger scored his second goal for Chelsea and his first at the Blues’ home stadium, Stamford Bridge. In total, Mikhail has 26 matches in a Blues jersey, two goals, two assists.
Chelsea have 12 points and are in tenth place in the Premier League. Mudryk’s team will next host Brentford on October 28.
