The head coach of Dynamo Kyiv spoke about the reasons for his team’s next defeat.
Mircea Lucescu called the restructuring of Dynamo Kyiv the main reason for the defeat from Dnepr-1. The head coach of the “white-blues” took all the blame for the loss on himself. According to the specialist, he simply does not have the time to deliver a solid performance to the young players.
“I don’t make decisions on transfers, I train players. Some clubs may be buying new players, quality foreign players, but we really haven’t signed anyone and therefore we are playing with players that we currently have at our disposal. Regarding the match itself, It is difficult to start the game with mistakes. Dnepr-1 has a good team with a well-coordinated game in defense and in attack, which is well prepared good for the match against us. And we started the game with two mistakes. But we dominated, attacked, created chances. Unfortunately, our players today are not angry enough to effectively fight the opponent this.
The problem is that we lost 11 key players who were leaders of our team and played an important role. Now we have 5-6 young football players with no experience, they have to learn. The problem was with me: I could not build a team in such a short time that could withstand our opponents in the Ukrainian championship. Besides, our luck has run out. We lost Shaparenko for a long time, and then Yarmolenko too. Popov recently recovered. Finally today Karavaev served his disqualification. Our players today did not show the level we want to see from them. We are creating a new team, but the main thing is that too many mistakes have been made today. However, I do not absolve myself of responsibility.
In a missed goal situation, Sirota, Ovcharenko and Buschan disagreed. But the loss is not a big problem. The problem was we couldn’t score.
I agree with you. Brazhko rarely returns to defense; he is constantly 20-25 meters further than necessary. Today he returned to the defense only once. The rest of the time he was not in our penalty area, making mistakes under pressure, and thus creating opportunities for the opponent.
Today, all our players do not have the required level of concentration and stability. Yes, we continue to play under pressure, but the main problem is a large number of technical defects. That’s why we lost. We have good control of the ball, good passing, but it’s not enough: we have to finish the attacks,” Dynamo’s website quoted Lucescu as saying.
