Fluminense coach, Fernando Diniz assessed the defeat to Bragantino and commented on the changes made at Nabi Abi Chedid
Fernando Diniz assessed the defeat of Fluminense for the Bragantino, 1-0, in the 28th round of the Brazilian Championship. In a press conference after the match at Nabi Abi Chedid, the Tricolor coach stated that the penalty goal, scored by Eduardo Sashawas “completely avoidable”.
“It’s a team that plays aggressively. Most of the times we were ahead in the first half, we had an advantage. The goal was completely avoidable, easy to win the first ball, easy to make a foul on the shot and we ended up committing a penalty”, he stated.
“But then we started to fit the exits. In the first 15 minutes we started suffering more, but because the team was fitting in on the field. Then we met, we started to play better, almost every ball we managed to hit the ground. In the second half the team came back worse, the changes had no effect and Bragantino deserved to win the game”, completed.
According to the Fluminense coach, the Rio team was better in the final half of the first stage than in the second half.
“Fluminense played better in the second half of the first half. I didn’t think we were better in the second half. We had a little chance at the end of the game, in a more random way. I think we didn’t know how to play the second half, and Bragantino scored. We had to change to a slightly longer game and insisted on a shorter game which made Bragantino’s action easier”followed Diniz.
“In the second half, yes, there was a lack of movement and changing the game. The game was asking for longer balls and we insisted, putting Yony González and then Lelê to play a more direct game. When we removed Daniel and Alexsander, we lost movement on the way out. One game was more about advancing and being more direct, but we continued in the same game we played in the first half. It was a tactical error that we made and it made Bragantino’s actions easier”, completed.
With the result, Fluminense stopped at 42 points, in ninth place. Fernando Diniz’s team returns to the field next Wednesday, 25th, at 7pm (Brasília time), against Goiásat Raulino de Oliveira, for the 29th round.
