The defense asked to place the businessman under house arrest
Shevchenkovsky district court of Kyiv left the ex-owner of the Dnieper in custody Igor Kolomoisky.
The businessman’s defense asked the court to change the preventive measure to round-the-clock house arrest in his home in the Dnepropetrovsk region. Lawyers noted the deterioration of Kolomoisky’s health. In turn, the prosecutor noted that on October 25, employees of a private medical institution will collect tests to examine the businessman.
Previously, the defense asked the court to cancel the arrest with an alternative to bail. The Court of Appeal rejected the petition, upholding the decision to set bail in the amount of 3.891 billion hryvnia.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine (BEB) served Kolomoisky with suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Art. 190 (fraud) and art. 209 (legalization (laundering) of property obtained by criminal means).
The investigation found that during 2013-2020, Igor Kolomoisky legalized more than half a billion hryvnia. The businessman withdrew money abroad, using the infrastructure of controlled banking institutions. The Office of the President clarifies that we are talking about an amount of over 570 million hryvnia. The court initially arrested Kolomoisky until October 31 inclusive with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of more than 509 million hryvnia, later the amount increased to 3.891 billion hryvnia.
Let us remind you that in February a search was carried out in the house of Igor Kolomoisky. It was reported that the searches were related to the investigation into the fraud of Ukrtatnafta and Ukrnafta, namely in the case of embezzlement of oil products worth 40 billion hryvnia and evasion of customs duties in large amounts.
Let us remember that Igor Kolomoisky was closely associated with Ukrainian football and basketball for many years. For a long time he was the owner of the football club Dnepr, which was deprived of its professional status in 2018 due to multimillion-dollar debts.
