Tony Mowbray expects gradual growth and acclimatization from the Ukrainian
Head coach Sunderland’s Tony Mowbray told that the Ukrainian forward Nazariy Rusinlike a number of other young footballers, needs to work hard to earn a place in the team’s first team.
“These players come from different countries, some of them find it difficult to acclimate to the intensity of the work we do. If they tore up the net every day in training, they would already be on the team.”
“These are young boys learning their trade. Rusin is not so young, he is 24-25 years old, but he is from Ukraine and has slight problems with the language. If I thought they could come in and score goals and help us win games, they would be in the team.”
In early September, Rusin moved to Sunderland from Zorya, signing a four-year contract with an option to extend for another season. The forward made his debut for the new club in the 8th round of the Championship match against Cardiff. The Ukrainian also scored an assist in the match between the Sunderland youth team and Derby County U-21.
The Black Cats are in tenth place in the Championship with 21 points. Sunderland next host Norwich on October 28.
