Messi is not in the running for MLS Most Valuable Player, but could win Best Newcomer.

Inter Miami striker Lionel Messi was left out of the final three nominees for the MLS Most Valuable Player Award, the league’s official website reports.

Messi joined Inter Miami in July 2023, since then he has made 14 appearances for the Herons, scoring 11 goals and making 5 assists. This season, David Beckham’s club won its first trophy in history by winning the League Cup. With Messi, Inter Miami failed to reach the MLS Championship playoffs.

Nominees for the Most Valuable Player Award: Luciano Acosta (Cincinnati), Thiago Almada (Atlanta United) and Denis Bouanga (Los Angeles).

Messi is reportedly in the running for the MLS Best Newcomer award.
