Skripnik: If we want to play in European cups, we need to get used to this regime

Vorskla managed to avoid a third home defeat in a week

Head coach Vorskla Victor Skripnik commented on his team’s draw in the home match Ukrainian Premier League against Metallista 1925.

“We showed the reaction to the missed goals. We wanted to win. It was hard to play three games in a week, but the match was a fight. This is the calendar. If we want to play in European competitions, then we need to get used to this regime. We played and wanted to win.”

“As for the first goal, the ball went up and we lost the rebound. You can play better every time you score.”

“During the break I asked the guys to show character. I understood that everyone was tired. But we tried to win.”

Let us remind you that Vorskla barely escaped home defeat from Metalist 1925 (2:2). The Poltava team came back twice, and they conceded again in the 78th minute.

This match was the third for Skrypnyk’s team in the last seven days. Earlier, the Poltava team, also at home, lost to Polesie (0:3) and Dnepr-1 (2:3).

Vorskla is ninth in the standings with 14 points, 7 points behind fourth place, which gives the right to qualify for European competition.

Next week Skrypnyk’s team will play away twice: on November 2 – against Obolon in the 1/4 finals of the Cup, and on November 5 – against Minai in the UPL.
