Shakhtar’s president welcomed the Bosnian specialist, who became the 38th head coach in the club’s history
The President met Miner Rinat Akhmetov with a new head coach Marino Pusic.
The president of the Donetsk club greeted the Bosnian coach and presented him with a T-shirt with number 38. This is exactly the head coach Pusic became in the history of the Miners.
“I am very grateful to you that you are here today, that you were not driven by fear of coming to Ukraine, but by a great desire to make the Ukrainian team stronger, to do everything to please the Ukrainian fans, the fans of Donetsk Shakhtar with a beautiful, bright attacking game,” Akhmetov said .
Let us remind you that 52-year-old Pusic was officially appointed head coach of Shakhtar Donetsk on October 24. He previously worked as an assistant to Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot.
Shortly before this, Shakhtar management had previously fired Patrick van Leeuwen, with whom the team played only 12 games. Along with the mentor, his staff also resigned. After the Dutchman left, the team was coached for a short time by Miners’ sporting director Darijo Srna.
Already on October 25, Pusic made his debut in his new position in an away Champions League match against Barcelona, in which Shakhtar lost with a score of 1:2.
On November 3, the Miners will have a Ukrainian Championship match against Dynamo. Four days later, Shakhtar and Barcelona will hold another head-to-head meeting in the main European Cup. The match will take place in Hamburg.
