The Ukrainian national team will take part in the 2023 European Judo Championships. Russian and Belarusian athletes were allowed to participate in the tournament

Ukraine will be represented by 11 athletes

National Judo Federation of Ukraine unanimously decided to participate Ukrainian national team on European Championship 2023 in judo.

The blue-yellow team consists of 11 athletes. Artem Lesyuk and Dilshot Khalmatov (up to 60 kg), Bogdan Yadov (up to 66 kg), Mikhail Svidrak (up to 81 kg), Anton Savitsky (up to 100 kg) and Evgeniy Balevsky (over 100 kg) will participate in the men’s competitions.

Among the women will be Yulia Grebenozhko (up to 63 kg), Elizaveta Litvinenko and Yulia Kurchenko (up to 78 kg), as well as Ruslana Bulavina and Kristina Goman (over 78 kg).

It should be noted that the head coach of the Ukrainian judo team, Vitaly Dubrova, spoke about the possibility of a boycott of the 2023 European Championship due to admission of 21 Russian and Belarusian athletes to the continental championship, which will be held in Montpellier, France.

In May, the Ukrainian national team boycotted the 2023 World Judo Championship; in October, the Ukrainian team missed the youth world championship. In April, the International Judo Federation (IJF) allowed athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete under a neutral flag in international competitions under its auspices.

The 2023 World Judo Championship will take place in France from November 3 to 5.
