GdS: “Catanzaro is ready for the restart. And Como will not leave any losses.”

“Catanzaro is ready for the restart. And Como will leave no waste,” the headlines read. Southern newspaper.

A balance of defeat that can only force you to grow. Few opponents will hold matches of this level.

Como has become a trap. The one that was feared the day before, in a classic Serie B match: lousy, difficult from start to finish, decided by an episode. Catanzaro returned with a bitter taste in his mouth, but did not relent. Even in the standings, taking into account yesterday’s results: Palermo failed to overtake, Venice did not fail to catch up, but this counts as zero. The Eagles are always on top.

An away loss against an opponent who can afford the likes of Cutrone and Verdi, Barba and Odenthal, allowing someone like Bazelli to start from the bench, could happen. And Como played their best game of the season: if they hadn’t done that, they wouldn’t have won.

Catanzaro had the merit, despite the difficulties of a match that had never been so full of pitfalls, to always remain within its framework: the opportunities were less obvious than at other times, perhaps even less, but between Katseris’s right-footed shot on the outside of the goal, the penalty Pompetti with a ricochet against the crossbar and a couple more tricky counter-attacks in the second half, something more could have happened. Iemmello and his teammates never gave up in the face of an opponent who was clearly stronger, more determined and more tenacious. Another aspect to note is that Fulignati has only conceded two goals from penalties in his last four matches, meaning things continue to work out there. It could be argued that Como had several chances to double the lead, but having made up the deficit, it was impossible not to give something up behind. […].
