Inter Miami and national team striker Argentina Lionel Messi won the France Football Ballon d’Or in 2023.
The awards ceremony took place in Paris at the Théâtre du Châtelet. David Beckham came to announce the winner. The Argentinian won this award for the 8th time.
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland took second place in the voting, PSG striker Kylian Mbappe came third.
Also in the top ten were City midfielders Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri, Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior, Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, Manchester midfielder City Bernardo Silva and Real Madrid midfielder Luca Modric.
Messi was awarded the Ballon d’Or in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019 and 2021. Messi’s closest pursuer is Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, who owns five of these trophies.
With the Argentina national team, Messi won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
