With Vini Jr and Messi awarded, the 2023 Ballon d’Or ceremony was held this Monday; check out what happened at the France Football awards
The ceremony of Ballon d’Or 2023promoted by the magazine France Football, was held this Monday, 30th, in Paris, France. The award ceremony gave honors to the main players and clubs from last season, in the 2022/23 period. Check out everything that happened.
The event began with the award of the Kopa Trophy (best under-21) to the Englishman Jude Bellinghama young man who stood out for his Borussia Dortmund (ALE) and today defends the colors of Real Madrid (ESP). The award was presented by the hands of the Belgian Eden Hazardwho recently announced his retirement.

Afterwards, the Brazilian Vinicius Jr won the 2023 Sócrates Prize for the social project “Instituto Vini Jr”, an organization that promotes education, digital inclusion and sport. The trophy was presented by the prince Albert IIfrom Monaco.
“The truth is that I am very happy to win this award, to help so many people in my country, Brazil, in my neighborhood, in the favela. It’s a very special dream for me to be here with all of you,” said the Brazilian.
“It’s annoying to always have to talk about racism, but I’m prepared for it. Always be able to speak when necessary. I will fight for the children, and that all players can help us. It’s very sad to always have to talk about racism, I like talking about football. Is very sad. I ask you for strength to continue the fight. And may the children of the future suffer less”, declared Vini about cases of racism.

The event featured tributes to Luis Suarez, Bobby Charlton It is Skinwho passed away last year. Vini Jr commented on the King of Football: “Speaking about Pelé is an honor for me. For me and other Brazilians, he is a God. He took our country to another level. His legacy is unspeakable.”

Best Women’s Club
The main team of Barcelona won the award for Best Women’s Football Club of 2023. The Catalan team received the honor for the second year in a row.

Emiliano Martínez won the Lev Yashin Trophy for best goalkeeper last season. World champion for Argentina, Dibu defends the colors of Aston Villa, from England. Alberto Martínez, the archer’s father, handed the trophy to his son.
“What a surprise! My father has always supported me, since I was little. I’m very excited to have you here. Without my teammates and Aston Villa teammates, this wouldn’t be possible. This is a team effort, thank you very much”, Dibu said.

Aitana Bonmatíof Barcelona, was named the best player in the world. At 25 years old, the midfielder achieved an unprecedented feat, with extremely important titles and great individual records. Thus, Bonmatí became the first athlete, in both men’s and women’s football, to win the Champions League, the World Cup and the Ballon d’Or in the same season. Furthermore, she participated in Barcelona’s Spanish title.

The trophy was handed over to the Argentine by the hands of David Beckham, English football idol. The number 10 won the competition for Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland andKylian Mbappe.
