Goalie Aston Villa and the Argentina national team Emiliano Martinez was booed when he went to receive the award for best goalkeeper of the year named Lev Yashin according to France Football magazine.
The ceremony takes place in Paris at the Théâtre du Châtelet.
The Argentinian received the Lev Yashin Award for Best Goalkeeper of the Year. As he entered the stage, the crowd booed Martinez, and boos were also heard during a replay of the goalkeeper’s save in the 2022 World Cup final against France. When the uproar began during Martinez’s speech, the master of ceremonies was forced to intervene and remind those present of respect and decorum.
In 2022, the Argentina national team won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Later in Paris, the Ballon d’Or will be awarded to the best player of the year.
