Hearn: The value of the Usyk-Fury fight has dropped sharply

The promoter believes that the rematch of the “Gypsy King” with Francis Ngannou will be more commercially attractive

Promoter Eddie Hearn stated that the fight for the title of absolute world champion between the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO champion Alexander Usik and WBC title holder Tyson Fury still relevant, but has lost much of its commercial appeal.

“We are seeing interesting dynamics now. I said earlier that the Usyk-Fury fight is dead, it was a sudden reaction after the fight with Ngannou. Obviously the fight didn’t die. It’s still a big battle. But the value of this fight has plummeted. Because what you really want to see is him face Francis Ngannou.”

“Ngannou has a lot of opportunities. Francis is now one of the most valuable boxers in the world. He can return to the world of MMA and have a huge fight. Now he has a big name. Good luck to him.”

Hearn previously said that Ngannou deserved to defeat the “Gypsy King.” The promoter proposed a fight between his protégé Anthony Joshua and the former UFC champion.

Fury defeated Ngannou to win the Riyadh title. The fight, according to boxing rules, lasted all the allotted 10 rounds, as a result of which two judges gave the victory to Fury, one to Ngannou. In the third round, Francis knocked down Tyson, but the Briton managed to return to the fight.

Fury intends to fight his next fight with WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO world champion Alexander Usik. The British promoter Frank Warren said that he cannot yet name the exact date of the fight between Usyk and Fury. The Briton suffered a cut and will need time to recover.
