Alexey Bugaev, who previously played for Lokomotiv, Torpedo and Krasnodar, was arrested in Krasnodar. Police arrested the 42-year-old man for a body search, during which they found a bag of “unknown powder” in his sweatshirt pocket. An examination later established that it was a derivative of mephedrone.
“On October 28, the Prikubansky District Court of Krasnodar considered an administrative offense case under Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation against Alexei Bugaev. The former football player resisted the police officers who carried out operational actions to identify his involvement in crimes in the field of drug trafficking. During the trial, he did not deny “that he was trying to hide from the police. The court found Bugaev guilty of committing an administrative offense and sentenced him to administrative arrest for 7 days,” the court said in the report.
Bugaev faces up to 20 years in prison. The former Russian national team footballer finished his professional career in 2010 at the age of 29. He played 7 matches for the national team and took part in Euro 2004. As part of Lokomotiv in 2005, he won the Russian Super Cup and became a bronze medalist in the national championship.
