The Olympic medalist believes that, despite Ngannou’s quality performance against Fury, fighters from other types of martial arts should not “mind their own business”
Former world featherweight and super featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson I was skeptical about the desire of MMA/UFC fighters to try their hand at professional boxing at the top level.
“If they think they can challenge the top boxers, let them try. I think there are a few guys in MMA who want to get in the ring with someone like me. I would really like to beat an MMA guy and show them what the real level is like.”
“I just think Tyson Fury that night [против Нганну] was out of his element, so the MMA dudes need to relax and mind their own business.”
Let us remind you that on the night of October 29, 2023, WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury defeated former UFC champion Francis Ngannou and won the Riyadh champion title. The fight, according to boxing rules, lasted all the allotted 10 rounds, as a result of which two judges gave the victory to Fury, one to Ngannou. In the third round, Francis knocked down Tyson, but the Briton managed to return to the fight.
In the next fight, the “Gypsy King” will meet in the ring with the holder of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO belts Alexander Usik. According to the latest information, the long-awaited fight will take place in Riyadh in February 2024. The fight was scheduled for December 23, but the Briton will not have time to prepare by this time. It was reported that Fury suffered two cuts in the fight with Ngannou.
