Alexander started, but spent less than an hour on the field
Arsenal lost away West Ham in the 1/8 finals of the English League Cup – 1:3.
Quite early, the Hammers took the lead – the ball was scored on Arsenal defender Ben White. At the very beginning of the second half, Mohammed Kudus doubled the hosts’ lead, and by the end of the hour the score had become big. All the Gunners managed to do was avoid defeat in the last seconds thanks to the efforts of Martin Odegaard.
In relative vindication for Mikel Arteta, it can be noted that he started a rotation and left several key players in reserve.
Jerrod Bowen scored his goal when the Arsenal defender Alexandra Zinchenko was no longer on the field. He was replaced in the 57th minute. This season, the 26-year-old Ukrainian played 13 matches for Arsenal in all tournaments, in which he was not very effective.
The Gunners suffered only their second defeat of the season. Earlier, Arteta’s team lost to Lens (1:2) in the Champions League.
Let us remind you that Arsenal occupies second position in the English Championship standings. West Ham are in ninth place.
On November 4 in the Premier League, Arsenal will play away against Newcastle, and West Ham will play away against Brentford.
