Argentinian striker Lionel Messi refused to be photographed with the president “Barcelona” Joan Laporta after the Ballon d’Or ceremony, reports COPE.
On Monday, Messi, 36, received the eighth Ballon d’Or of his career, the award ceremony took place in Paris at the Théâtre du Châtelet. After the official part of the event, Laporta wanted to take a group photo with Messi and Barcelona footballer Aitana Bonmati, who received the Women’s Ballon d’Or. However, Messi refused this request.
The footballer defended the colors of the Catalan club from 2003 to 2021.
Messi has already won the Ballon d’Or in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019 and 2021. The Argentine’s closest pursuer is Cristiano Ronaldo, who owns five of these trophies. With the Argentina national team, Messi won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
