Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel spoke about his impressions of the meeting with Saarbrücken in the German Cup.
Bayern Munich lost to the third club in the German championship, Saarbrücken, in the 1/16 finals of the German Cup. The match ended with a score of 2:1 in favor of the hosts, thanks to goals from Patrick Sontheimer (45) and Marcel Gauss (90+6). Thomas Müller (16) scored for the Munich team.
— We came back into the match in the second half. In the end, we had to swallow a very bitter pill. There are 100 explanations for this, and maybe none. Strange sensations. We created enough chances and half-chances. It’s really bittersweet. We can no longer catch up. We are extremely disappointed. We desperately wanted to go to Berlin. We took the lead, but then we stopped playing well. In the second half, we lacked a shot and a bit of luck to score a second goal,” Tuchel said, as quoted by Bayern’s official website.
