The reigning German champions unexpectedly lost to Saarbrücken in the 1/16 finals of the German Cup.

Bayern Munich will definitely not win the German Cup this season. Thomas Tuchel’s team stopped fighting for the trophy already in the last stage of 1/16. Their offender is notably a representative of the third division, Saarbrücken.

Let’s remember that the German champions started the away game successfully, opening the scoring in the 16th minute when Thomas Muller scored. However, even before the break, the hosts equalized the score, and in the sixth minute added to regular time they grabbed a 2:1 win.
