The defender recently returned to action after being injured
Defender Bayern’s Matthijs de Ligt suffered a knee injury in a match with Saarbrücken (1:2) in German Cup.
“It’s the same knee again, the same cartilage. This is very painful. At the moment we do not have an exact diagnosis,” said Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel after the match.
It later turned out that the Dutchman had damaged the internal collateral ligament and capsule of the knee joint. The defender will miss four to six weeks.
Previously, De Ligt suffered a knee injury in a match with Bochum (7:0) in September, in which he scored himself, after which he missed three weeks. The defender has 10 appearances for Munich in all tournaments of the season.
Bayern were eliminated from the German Cup. Munich occupy second place in the Bundesliga. In the next match, Thomas Tuchel’s team will play against Borussia Dortmund on November 4.
