After the battle with Dubois, Alexander visited places near Kiev that were destroyed by the war
World champion WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO Alexander Usik talked about what he did after his victory over Daniel Duboisas well as about its activities to help Ukrainians affected by Russian military aggression.
“What did you do after defeating Dubois? First I visited my sons [Кирилла и Михаила]my mother and my wife’s parents in Europe, and then returned to Ukraine [в Киев]where my wife was waiting for me [Екатерина] and my daughter [Елизавета]. I got busy with the things that awaited me. Something that had to be postponed due to leaving for training camp. I took on some of the responsibilities of being a husband and a father, and I was training.”
“I was not on the front line after the fight in Wroclaw, but I visited the places that suffered after the war. “I had this in my plans, and I was going to go to the front line, but I didn’t have time due to coincidence.”
“I visited places around Kyiv that were destroyed by the war and saw absolutely destroyed houses, which we are now rebuilding together with my team and the United 24 platform. There was life there. People lived there – in their houses. The enemy has arrived; destroyed their houses; killed people. Some people had to leave the region. What can I feel? This is monstrous. That’s horrible. This is war. That’s how I feel.”
“We can say that the situation is changing a little, because we want these changes. We want people to come back; we want to return the houses; we want them to live in their own homes; raise your children. That’s why my team at my foundation and the team at United 24 – and the many people who help us by funding foundations – we do this to give back to our people. Return to normal life.”
Let us remind you that on August 26 in Wroclaw, Usyk won by knockout over British heavyweight Daniel Dubois.
The Ukrainian champion is expected to fight his next fight against WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury. The Ukrainian side insists that the unification fight should take place on December 23 (according to the contract), but February 2024 looks like a more realistic date at the moment.
In the early hours of February 24, 2022, Russia launched rocket and air strikes on most Ukrainian cities and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has continued for the 619th day.
