The Polesie coach regrets that his team was unable to defeat Alexandria in regular time, but thanks his players for their character
Head coach Polesia Yuri Kalitvintsev commented on his team’s progress to the semi-finals Ukrainian Cup.
“We are overwhelmed with emotions. We had chances to win in regulation time, but there wasn’t enough of a key pass for one of the players to make a point. However, this is the Cup, this is a football holiday for the fans and for us.”
“You don’t have to wait for a penalty. Everything must be done in 90 minutes. We have a lot of games ahead of us now, but our team has real character, the character of men. We will recover and prepare for the next matches.”
Let us remind you that Polesie and Alexandria did not reveal the winner either in regular time or in overtime. In the 11-meter series, Kalitvintsev’s team was stronger – 4:3, and Yuri’s son Vladislav scored for the guests from the spot.
The other semi-finalists of the Cup were Shakhtar, Chernomorets and Vorskla.
On November 6, Polesie will play against Krivbass in a match between the leaders of the Ukrainian championship, and Alexandria will fight with Dnepr-1.
