The Romanian footballer explained that it was difficult for him to cope with the recent events, including the war, in Ukraine.
Dynamo Kyiv’s head coach, 78-year-old Mircea Lucescu, resigned after losing the Ukrainian Premier League Classic to Shakhtar Donetsk. He announced this decision at a press conference, reports Dynamo.kiev.ua.
For the first time in his career, he left the team on his own initiative.
The coach of the Kyiv football team emphasized that he is confident: “Dynamo and Ukraine have a future.”
According to him, it was very difficult for him to survive all this time – the war, the absence of fans, the minutes of silence before each match.
“For me it’s difficult. Over the years you become more sentimental,” he emphasized.
Lucescu noted that he devoted 15 years to Ukrainian football and decided to end his career there.
“This is the last game, I say goodbye to Dynamo players and Shakhtar players. Thanks to Ukrainian football! Thanks to Ukraine for these 15 years! I wish everyone peace, health and a happy future,” Lucescu stressed .
The Romanian coach worked at the head of Dynamo for 3.5 years. He led the capital’s grand team in the summer of 2020.
In the debut season, the “white-blues” under his leadership achieved a double, winning the championship and the Ukrainian Cup. Dynamo won the Ukrainian Super Cup 2020.
We remind you that in the ninth round of the Ukrainian championship, Dynamo defeated Alexandria with a score of 4:2.
