Their joint company with Sergei, according to previously published investigation data, collaborated with the authorities of the terrorist “DPR”
On the official site Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine notice of suspicion published Vasily Bubkabrother of the ex-president of the National Olympic Committee Sergei Bubka.
The elder brother of the famous athlete, and later a functionary, is suspected Security Service of Ukraine (SBU):
- in organizational and other assistance to the activities of a terrorist organization;
- in conducting economic activities in cooperation with the aggressor state, illegal authorities created in temporarily occupied territory, incl. occupation administration of the aggressor state.
The texts of summonses addressed to Bubka Vasily Nazarovich were also published, ordering him to appear at the Main Investigation Department of the SBU on November 6, 7 and 8.
Let us recall that in early July, a Bihus.Info investigation found that in May 2023, the Mont Blanc company, which belongs to the Bubka family, entered into several agreements with the terrorist “DPR” authorities in the amount of about 800 thousand rubles. Mont Blanc registered its activities under Russian laws at the beginning of 2023, already in the occupied territory, and then began trading with the occupation authorities.
Based on the investigation, the SBU opened criminal proceedings. In response, according to the current president of the NOC, Vadim Gutzeit, Bubka said that he was preparing a lawsuit for “defense of honor.”
Despite this, already on July 27, “Firm Mont Blanc” concluded a new contract with terrorists for the sale of fuel to the “treasury” of the “DPR” according to the above-mentioned scheme. In addition, another company of Bubka and his brother, the Sports Club of Sergei Bubka, agreed in July of this year to supply the “Ministry of Internal Affairs” of the occupiers in the Donetsk region with rubber cliches for stamps.
In September, Sergei Bubka said that he had nothing to do with “any business in the occupied territory,” and that everything that was happening was “an attempt to smear his name.”
Sergei Bubka has been the president of the NOC of Ukraine since 2005. At the end of 2022, the functionary left his post, and Vadim Gutzeit became the new head of the NOC.
At the same time, Bubka is still a member of the National Olympic Committee. The NOC noted that they cannot expel Sergei from the organization since he is a member of the International Olympic Committee. The IOC Ethics Commission, according to representatives of the Ukrainian committee, was familiarized with the investigation materials.
Early in the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia fired rockets and aerial bombardment of most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The Russian war against Ukraine has continued for the 620th day.
