Karavaev: Everyone supported Brazhko

Dynamo Kiev defender Alexander Karavaev commented on the course of the home match against Shakhtar Donetsk, in which the white-blues lost to the Miners, and also shared his opinion regarding Lucescu’s resignation and the team’s results in the championship.

— Alexander, immediately after the end of the meeting, Mircea Lucescu announced the end of his coaching career. Did he tell the players about this?

– Yes, it’s a shame that Lucescu announced his resignation in such conditions, after the defeat. He really wanted to finish this season in the UPL and win it, he had big goals and plans, but it didn’t work out. Up to this point, we had good moments, we played in the Champions League, were champions of Ukraine, won the Ukrainian Cup and Super Cup. In addition, many young football players moved to European clubs – both these football players and Dynamo (Kyiv) benefited from this.

— Did Mircea Lucescu talk about his resignation before the start of the game or after the match?

— After the end of the meeting, we went into the locker room and there Mircea Lucescu announced everything to us. Tomorrow we will have a team meeting and everyone will explain to us what will happen.

— What are your emotions after the Ukrainian clasico?

— We understood that the Dynamo-Shakhtar game was a special meeting in the UPL. We succeeded in a lot both in the first half and in the second. However, we missed an offensive goal, and it was difficult.

— Why didn’t you manage to protect your goal?

“We seemed to be playing compactly in defense, but there was a cutting pass to Zubkov, and Alexander shot between Buschan’s legs. It happened that way.

— We see that the situation for Dynamo Kyiv in the standings is not the best…

– We understand everything. All the guys are professionals, everyone understands everything. We will prepare for the fight with Krivbass. We need to break this winless streak.

— A week ago, Dynamo drew with Kolos and it seemed that the situation was getting better. However, did something go wrong?

— We always analyze games, it seems like we are doing everything right, we create chances, but the execution is lame, but at some point in the defense we slip through and concede goals. This puts moral pressure on us. There is nothing left to do but continue to work. There are still many games ahead. We must not repeat mistakes and try to improve the implementation of scoring chances.

— Today, many were surprised to see that Vladimir Brazhko became Dynamo’s captain for this meeting. How did he cope with this role?

— Before the warm-up, all the guys supported him. For Volodya this is a positive moment. At that age he put on the captain’s armband. He coped with this role.
