Yaya Toure became Mancini’s assistant in the Saudi Arabian national team

The ex-Olympic coach was reunited with the Italian mentor with whom he worked at Man City

Ex-football player of Donetsk Metallurg, Barcelona and Manchester City Yaya Toure appointed first mate Roberto Mancini in the national team Saudi Arabia.

It is reported that the 58-year-old Italian specialist, who took over the Saudi team at the end of August, personally asked for the 40-year-old Ivorian to join his headquarters. Mancini coached Toure at the Manchester club from 2010 to 2013.

Toure won eight trophies with Manchester City (including the Premier League three times) and seven with Barcelona (including the Champions League and Primera Liga twice). He was also the champion of Greece and the winners of the African Cup of Nations.

The long-term client of agent Dmitry Selyuk began his coaching career in 2021. For several months he worked on the coaching staff of Olympic Donetsk, where he was an assistant to three mentors – Igor Klimovsky, Yuri Kalitvintsev and Roman Sanzhar.

Since 2022, Toure has worked in the Tottenham U-16 academy.

The Saudi Arabian national team is ranked 57th in the FIFA rankings. Since 1994, the Green Falcons have participated in six world championships, but only once (in the USA) managed to advance from the group. At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Saudis, led by Hervé Renard, created one of the loudest sensations by beating the eventual champion Argentina (2:1).

Saudi Arabia is highly likely to host the 2034 World Cup.
