Parish of Brazil for Boca Juniors? Check out the history of the Argentine team

This Saturday, November 4th, the Fluminense face the Boca Juniors for the grand final of Libertadores 2023. After a campaign full of challenges, Tricolor das Laranjeiras returns to the continental decision after 14 years and can win the trophy for the first time. However, the task will not be easy: the Argentines can win their seventh title and have a favorable record against Brazilians.

With six titles, Boca is the second most winning team in the Libertadores. Of these achievements, four of them were against Brazilian teams. The only time the xeneizes reached the final and lost to a team from Brazil in 2012, when the club was defeated by Corinthians and finished runner-up in the Pacaembu.

Boca’s first title came in 1977, when the Argentines faced cruisechampion of the previous edition, on the River Plate. In a two-game decision, Cabuloso won the first 1-0, but the Xeneizes returned the score and lifted the cup on penalties.

The Argentines beat the Brazilians again in the final in 2000, when they beat the Palm trees, champion of the previous year, again on penalties. In history, this was Boca Juniors’ third title, but the second won against a team from Brazil in the grand final.

Subsequently, Boca Juniors won two other Libertadores against Brazilians, but with complete dominance. Against Santos It is Guild, in 2003 and 2007, respectively, the Argentine club won the two matches of the decision, without giving their opponents a chance. In fact, the title against Tricolor Gaúcho was the last in history xeinezewho has been vice-president twice in the last 16 years.
