Krasyuk: The Usyk-Fury fight will not take place on December 23, next week we may make a new announcement

The Briton does not have time to recover by the previously appointed date

Alexander Krasyukpromoter of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Alexandra Usikasaid that he would be able to make an official statement about the fight with the holder of the WBC belt Tyson Fury not until next week. The promoter said the undisputed title fight will not take place on December 23.

“We expected Fury to fight Usik on December 23, that was our agreement, it was signed by both parties. But we have been boxing for some time and we know that if a fighter is not ready and does not want to get into the ring, you cannot push him, he will never do it. But the whole world is waiting for a big fight, so we have to be flexible.”

“No, Usyk will not fight on December 23. The fight was rescheduled for early 2024, that’s what we did. Now Usyk is filming all the videos, filming for the upcoming fight and returning to his training camp in Spain.”

“If everything goes well, something will be announced next week. Let’s just say it won’t be good if I announce anything before next week.”

Let us remind you that on the night of October 29, Fury defeated ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou and won the Riyadh champion title. The fight, according to boxing rules, lasted all the allotted 10 rounds, as a result of which two judges gave the victory to Fury, one to Ngannou. In the third round, Francis knocked down Tyson, but the Briton managed to return to the fight.

After the fight, promoter Frank Warren drew attention to the cut received by the “Gypsy King”, because of which it was “useless” to immediately schedule a unification fight. The promoter later suggested that it was almost certain that Fury and Usyk would fight in early 2024.
