Fan Boca Juniors committed suicide after the team’s defeat in the final Copa Libertadores 2023.
Marcelo Morales, 23, worked as a police officer in Buenos Aires and was an avid Juniors fan. Information about Morales’ death was confirmed by Marcelo’s mother. At the same time, she emphasized that Marcelo expressed a desire to commit suicide if Boca lost in the Cup final.
“If they lost, he felt bad, he was sad, he was angry, he said Boca were the greatest thing. But Boca is trash. They killed him.”
“I didn’t think my son would reach such a limit. A few weeks ago he told his father: “If Boca don’t win on November 4, I will kill myself.” We thought he was joking. Let young people realize, let all families think that football is just a game. Life shouldn’t be about football.”
Fluminense won the Libertadores Cup, beating Boca Juniors in the final in extra time – 2:1. Fluminense won the main club trophy in South America for the first time in history. Boca Juniors, after their last victory in 2007, lost their third Copa Libertadores final.
