Newcastle defender Byrne will miss several months with a spinal injury

Defender Newcastle Dan Burn will miss several months due to a spinal injury. Magpies head coach Eddie Howe spoke about this at a press conference before the match with Borussia D in the Champions League.

“Unfortunately, Dan will be away for some time. It could be a couple of months, that’s kind of a speculative answer. He landed on his spine; I think he has problems with the base of his spine. This is a big blow for us. He has been of great importance to us since he came, for many different reasons. “His character, his determination, his experience and versatility – so we’re not just losing one position.”

Bern was injured in the match with Arsenal (1:0). The defender was changed during the break of the match.

Dan has made 15 appearances for Newcastle in all competitions this season. The defender scored two goals in them. In October, the 31-year-old Englishman extended his contract with the Magpies until the summer of 2025.

Newcastle are sixth in the Premier League with 20 points. The Magpies’ next match will be away to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on November 7.
