Soccer club Barcelona launched the sale of a series of jewelry with carbon diamonds obtained following the carbonization of the pitch of the Camp Nou stadium, closed for reconstruction, reports Daily Mail .
According to the publication, the diamonds went on sale on Monday. As noted in the paper, the carbon was extracted from the grass and then crystallized in a process considered completely environmentally friendly. Buyers will receive a certificate from the International Institute of Gemmology (Belgian certification body for diamonds, colored stones and jewelry) confirming that the diamond was made in a laboratory.
So, for a one-carat diamond, the buyer will pay 15 thousand euros, a half-carat diamond can be purchased for 2.5 thousand euros.
In July, it was announced that the jewelry project would save the club €30 million a year.
