Empoli lost on the road Frosinone in the 11th round match Italian Championship – 1:2.
The teams went into the break with the score tied 0:0. In the second half of the match, Frosinone scored twice through the efforts of Marvin Ciuni and Ariyon Ibrahimovic.
Empoli responded with a precise strike from Francesco Caputo in the 86th minute. A minute later, the 36-year-old striker scored again, but the goal was canceled due to offside.
Midfielder Empoli Victor Kovalenko started the match on the bench. The midfielder came on as a substitute in the 77th minute, but did not help his team avoid defeat.
For Kovalenko it was the first match for Empoli since October 6. In total, the Ukrainian played in three matches this season.
Empoli remained in penultimate position in Serie A. Frosinone rose to 11th place.
In the next round on November 12, Empoli will play against Napoli, and Frosinone will meet Inter.
