“I have no idea what kind of team the Cuban national team is. I don’t know anything about them,” Safonov said, as quoted by RB Sport.
A friendly match between the national teams of Russia and Cuba will take place on November 20 in Volgograd in an arena built especially for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Note that this will be the third home match of the Valery Karpin’s team after FIFA and UEFA sanctions. In March 2023, in St. Petersburg, the Russians beat Iraq (2:0) and on October 12 in Moscow, they beat Cameroon (1:0).
The Cuban national team occupies 169th place in the FIFA rankings. Valery Karpin’s team now occupies 39th place in the ranking.
