The promoter of the Ukrainian champion is confident that his advantage is “extraordinary amateur experience”
Alexander Krasyukpromoter of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Alexandra Usikashared his thoughts on how the Ukrainian boxer will be able to defeat the WBC belt holder Tyson Fury in the upcoming fight for the title of absolute champion.
“You know, size doesn’t matter much, especially in boxing. Many, including Dereck Chisora, believe that size matters a lot. But my experience and intuition tell me that the main thing is not size, but skills, attitude, psychology, boxing IQ. That’s what leads you to victory.”
“Tyson Fury has it all: boxing IQ, skill, speed, footwork, experience, he knows how to improvise in the ring and he has size. Usik has everything the same, except for the dimensions. But he has something from his past: extraordinary amateur experience.”
“So when I talk to him, I don’t see any hesitation in his eyes. Usyk is absolutely ready to fight, and he knows how to deal with Tyson. So I feel confident and relaxed about this fight. My only concern is that we get this fight done.”
The fight between Usik and Fury was planned to be organized on December 23 (both the Ukrainian champion himself and his promoter Alexander Krasyuk insisted on this date), but the “Gypsy King” will not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou.
Krasyuk recently announced that the unification fight between Usyk and WBC belt holder Tyson Fury will not take place on December 23 and will be held in early 2024. The reason for the transfer was the damage Fury suffered in his last fight with Ngannou.
