The Berlin club secured a historic first point in the Champions League
Napoli tied with Berlin Union in the home match of the 4th round Champions League – 1:1.
The home team had the advantage and deservedly capitalized on it at the end of the first half. At first, Andre-Frank Zambo-Anguissa’s goal was not counted due to an attacking foul, but soon Matteo Politano scored legitimately, successfully setting up a rebound after Mario Rui’s cross.
However, the guests unexpectedly bounced back early in the second half. Union succeeded in a counterattack, in the endgame of which David Datro Fofana successfully played a finishing move.
Rudi Garcia’s team spent the rest of the meeting attacking, but were unable to create too many chances. Moreover, the guests did not use several promising counterattacks.
Union ended a terrible streak of 12 consecutive defeats, but the team from the German capital has not won since August.
Having scored 7 points, the Parthenopeans remained in second place in Quartet C. The Berlin club scored the first point in the historic Champions League, which did not allow Urs Fischer’s team to leave last place.
In the fifth round on November 29, Union will play away against Braga. Napoli will visit Real Madrid.
