Russian football stars recreate the “golden” match of the 2002 Russian Championship between “Lokomotiv” And CSKA reports the communications service of the Russian Football Union (RFUs ).
The match will take place on November 19 at the RZD Arena stadium in Moscow. Previously, the head of the RFU’s events and marketing communications department, Kirill Tereshin, told that the reenactment of the 2002 golden match between Lokomotiv and CSKA could take place in November, during the break national team matches.
It is noteworthy that Dmitry Loskov, Sergei Ignashevich, Vadim Evseev, Yuri Zhirkov, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, Manuel Fernandes, Elver Rakhimich, Dmitry Sychev and other legends of both capital clubs will appear on the field. The head coaches of the teams will be Yuri Semin and Valery Gazzaev.
Based on the results of 30 rounds of the 2002 season, CSKA and Lokomotiv scored 66 points in the Russian Championship, sharing first place in the standings. According to the regulations, a “golden match” was organized because other performance indicators of the teams were not taken into account. At the meeting which took place on November 21, 2002 in Moscow, the railway workers won – 1:0.
Earlier, on May 1, the RFU organized a retro match between Spartak Moscow and Dynamo Stalingrad in Volgograd, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad. In 2022, two matches took place between the Zenit and Spartak legends.
