This is already the second coaching resignation from Yellow Submarine this fall.
Villarreal officially announced his separation from the head coach Pacheta. The team will be temporarily led by sporting director Miguel Angel Tena.
55-year-old specialist (real name – Juan Jose Martin Rojo) worked as a coach of the Levantine club for only two months.
On September 9, Pacheta was replaced by Quique Setien, who was fired due to unsatisfactory results at the start of the season. Villarreal also considered Julen Lopetegui and Raul Gonzalez.
Prior to this appointment, Pacheta had been unemployed since April 2023, when he was fired from Valladolid. The coach is also known for his work with Elche, Huesca and a number of other Spanish teams.
In the last match under the leadership of Pacheta, Villarreal won a strong-willed victory over Maccabi Haifa in the Europa League.
In the Spanish Championship, the Yellow Submarine, led by Setien and Pacheta, played 12 matches, scored the same number of points and is in 13th place. On November 12, Villarreal will play away against Atlético.
