The French court rejected the request to extradite Zhevago to Ukraine

The honorary president of Vorskla was previously arrested in connection with suspicion of embezzlement of bank property Finance and Credit

The French court rejected the request government of Ukraine on the extradition of the honorary president Vorskla Konstantin Zhevago in connection with allegations of embezzlement.

“The court concluded that the plaintiff state (Ukraine) cannot guarantee that Mr. Zhevago will be tried by a court that can provide fundamental procedural guarantees and protection of the rights of the defense,” the verdict reads.

In December 2022, Zhevago was detained at the Courchevel ski resort in the French Alps. He is suspected of embezzling the property of the Finance and Credit bank, in which Zhevago was listed as a beneficiary, in the amount of 2.5 billion hryvnia.

Zhevago was subsequently released from custody on bail of one million euros. He is not allowed to leave mainland France, where he was arrested. At the same time, the Economic Court of Kyiv arrested the assets of Konstantin Zhevago in the amount of about 46 billion hryvnia.

In May, Switzerland seized the assets of a Ukrainian billionaire worth more than $113 million. The shares of his enterprises, 26 real estate properties, 14 property complexes, 21 parts of property complexes, 30 non-residential premises, 10 apartments, a yacht and a helicopter, which was later transferred to the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, were seized.

Zhevago also left the post of director and resigned from the board of directors of Ferrexpo, which is a sponsor of the Vorskla football club.
