John Textor is sued by CBF president, Ednaldo Rodrigues

After recent statements by the owner of SAF do Botafogo, John Textor, especially in light of Palmeiras’ historic turn against Glorioso, Ednaldo Rodrigues takes a drastic decision against the businessman

The owner of SAF do Botafogo, John Textorwas processed by Ednaldo Rodriguespresident of CBF. The trigger for the executive to make such a decision were the businessman’s recent statements. The slander action was filed last Thursday, 9th, at 9th Special Criminal Courtat Barra da Tijuca Regional Districtin the city of Rio de Janeiro.

The Brazilian Football Confederation is also a plaintiff in the same case against the American businessman. The entity fulfilled its promise to take legal action against the owner of SAF Botafoguense, but abandoned doing the same against the digital influencer, Felipe Neto. Soon after the defeat to Palmeiras, still on the pitch of Nilton SantosJohn Textor harshly criticized the entity and called for the president’s resignation, stating that the club had been harmed by the refereeing during the match.

“The whole world saw it, this is not a red card. He (Adryelson) got the ball first. I’m not even sure if it was a foul. But it’s not a red card, he changed the game. This is corruption, this is theft. Please fine me, Ednaldo, but you need to resign tomorrow morning. That’s what needs to happen. This championship has become a joke. Nobody deserves this, these Palmeiras players don’t want to win like that, we don’t want to lose like that. There are five games in a row. Gentlemen, you played a good game, it’s not your fault, but this is corruption. This needs to change. Ednaldo, you need to resign for the good of the game. This needs to end. This is theft, fine me. You can’t expel me, it’s my stadium, I’ll stay here”, said the North American. John Textor was preventively suspended for 30 days by the Superior Justice Tribunal.
