Shakur hopes to win championship belts so that the Ukrainian himself will challenge him
Former two-division world champion Shakur Stevenson stated that the former champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko shows weakness by avoiding meeting him.
“I’m not trying to defend Top Rank, but you can’t blame the promoters because another fighter said no. I think this is some weak shit. In my opinion, this is weak.”
“I can’t do anything about it. “I just need to keep fighting and hopefully after I get this belt, Lomachenko will want to win it too.”
Stevenson repeatedly challenged Lomachenko to a fight and stated that Vasily was offered the largest fee for the fight. In early July, the Ukrainian replied that he had “unfinished business with Devin Haney.” Arum later said that Vasily will not enter the ring in 2023.
Stevenson will face Dominican Edwin De Los Santos for the vacant WBC lightweight title. The fight is scheduled for November 16 in Las Vegas.
In his last fight, Vasily lost to Devin Haney in the fight for the title of absolute world lightweight champion.
