New mentor Gornyakov shared his impressions of working in Ukraine
Head coach Shakhtar Marino Pusic spoke about the first days of work in the Ukrainian club.
“Of course it’s something special. Competitions are held only in safe places, the club takes good care of this. The air raid siren sounds regularly, but I have not yet seen or felt any danger.”
“We, of course, celebrated the victory over Barcelona when we returned to the hotel. But not that long, because we had to return early in the morning. And on Sunday we have an important match in the Ukrainian championship.”
Pusic was officially appointed head coach of Shakhtar Donetsk on October 24. The coach made his debut at the head of the Miners in an away Champions League match against Barcelona (1:2). In the fourth round of Group H, Shakhtar took revenge, Pusic’s team defeated the blue garnets (1:0).
The Pitmen are in fourth place in the UPL with 24 points after 11 matches. In the next match, Shakhtar will play against Dnepr-1 on November 12.
