“CSKA could be the leader of the RPL if acquisitions were made this summer” – Chanov

Former goalkeeping coach CSKA Vyacheslav Chanov told that the team lacks depth in the squad and that if new arrivals had been acquired this summer, the Muscovites could have taken the lead in the Russian Premier League (RPL).

On Saturday, CSKA in the away match of the 15th round of the MIR RPL played a draw with Fakel – 1:1. The home team equalized the score in second-half stoppage time. After the match, CSKA coach Vladimir Fedotov complained about his team’s lack of depth.

— It’s a shame to miss a match in a row in the last minutes. But it is also important that there are no defeats for a long time. Fedotov is right. The substitutes’ bench is a double. There wasn’t enough squad for this match and they also lost two players to disqualification. It is not necessary to vary the composition much. “Fakel” produced more experienced players and Fedotov started with what he had. The older ones didn’t play in their place.

— Who is responsible for the fact that CSKA could not buy a single player this summer?

— To determine who is to blame, you need to know what is happening within the club, who makes the decisions, what the plans are. We state the facts: instead of new arrivals, it is our own young people who go into the field. CSKA could be the leader of the RPL if acquisitions are made this summer.

— Are we sure to expect a strengthening of the workforce this winter?

— I hope there will be purchases. Management sees that it is impossible to play lean all the time. The young people are good, but we cannot throw them into the fire, they need time to adapt.

— What rating would you give Fedotov for the first half of the championship?

“Positive,” Chanov told .

CSKA has not lost for ten consecutive days (three wins and seven draws) and occupies fourth place in the standings with 25 points. Krasnodar is in the lead (32), with one game in hand.
